Cameras or Photo on Demand?

Most people know the conventional CCTV - Security camera systems; these systems do have value, but also rank high in cost due to installation and specific solution requirements. A good solution can add technologies like facial recognition, human vs animal detection, and more. They do come at a price, and installation can be hard, if not sometimes impossible, due to location or the surrounding environment.

Photo on demand solutions, on the other hand, are motion detectors first; they detect motion, and then send a few still photos of the action that triggered them to your mobile app. These devices can be wireless, easily installed, and also allow you to have photos sent on demand! Hence the name. Although they don’t “record” video, they serve the same purpose, informing the user of any verified intrusion.

These devices can also be used in outdoor environments, and due to it being wireless, can be redeployed multiple times without having to reinstall any cables! I’d like to see anyone move a fixed camera every week to try and catch an intruder.

When looking into a security solution, it doesn’t always have to break the bank- It also doesn’t always mean security cameras. Look into a system that offers the whole ecosystem. Start with a good reputable brand and installer that offers a variety of products in the same category and ask about future upgrade paths.
